Let’s be honest—when you hear ‘future superpower,’ two names pop up immediately: India and China. But if you look closely, these two are playing completely different games.

China had its boom in the 90s and 2000s. Factories exploded, skylines shot up, and millions escaped poverty overnight. India? It’s only now hitting that sweet spot. But here’s the catch—India is growing at a time when the world is shifting away from China.

China’s population is aging fast. Their workforce is shrinking. India, on the other hand, has one of the youngest populations on the planet. Almost 65% of Indians are under 35. That’s a massive advantage for the next two decades.

But don’t pop the champagne yet. China’s GDP is still nearly five times larger than India’s. Their infrastructure—roads, ports, high-speed rail—makes India look like it’s stuck in a different century.

So who’s winning? Right now, China. But if you’re a long-term thinker? India has the potential to close the gap. Slowly. Very slowly.
