UPSC OTR Registration: Why It’s Mandatory in 2026
From 2025 onwards, UPSC made One-Time Registration (OTR) compulsory for all exams. Without OTR, you cannot fill the IAS form. Go to https://upsconline.nic.in and click on OTR. Enter your name, father's name, date of birth, and Aadhaar (optional but recommended). Upload photo and signature as per specs. After OTR, you get an OTR ID. Use the same ID for DAF (Detailed Application Form) later. The biggest advantage: you don't need to re-enter basic details every year. However, update your graduation details if they change. If you forget your password, use the forgot password link. For help, check https://upsc.gov.in/faq. Many candidates skip OTR and later panic. Do it early – at least 2 weeks before the form closes. Keep your registered mobile number active because UPSC sends OTPs. This article walks you through every step with screenshots (in your mind).
