The Himalayan Escape: Why You Need to Visit Manali

Snow-capped Himalayan mountains near Manali with pine trees
Manali Himalayan Views
After weeks in the heat and dust of the plains, reaching Manali felt like stepping into a different world altogether. The air turned crisp and pine scented, the landscape shifted from flat farmland to towering snow capped peaks, and suddenly I understood why so many travelers end up staying here for months. Manali is a bit touristy, especially in the main town, but that just means it is a great place for beginners to ease into the mountains. I stayed in Old Manali, which has a more relaxed vibe with cafes serving everything from local Tibetan momos to decent espresso. The real magic, though, is just outside the town. I hired a local driver to take me up to Rohtang Pass, where I was playing in snow in the middle of summer. The next day, I went for a short trek to Jogini Waterfalls. It was just a few hours hike, but the views of the valley were breathtaking. If you are not a hardcore trekker, do not worry. There are plenty of easy day hikes and scenic drives that let you experience the Himalayas without needing any special gear or experience.
