Running a Discord Bot for 10,000 Users on Google Cloud's Free Tier
I run a Discord bot for a gaming community. Ten thousand users. Hundreds of requests per minute. And I pay exactly $0 to host it. The secret? Google Cloud Run free tier and Firestore free tier. My bot is a simple Python app in a container. Cloud Run gives me 2 million requests per month for free. Firestore gives me 1 GB of storage and 50,000 reads/writes per day free. I haven't crossed these limits once. The bot auto-scales during peak hours and goes to zero when no one uses it. I used to pay $20 a month for a VPS. Now my only cost is the domain. If you're running a side project, the GCP free tier is incredibly generous. You just need to architect it right. My bot proves it's possible.
