RDS: Managed Databases That Let You Sleep at Night

Managed database on AWS RDS
AWS RDS Database Management
Relational Database Service takes the pain out of database administration. Before RDS, I spent weekends managing backups and patching. With RDS, AWS handles the heavy lifting. You choose your database engine—PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, or even Oracle—and AWS manages backups, software patching, and automatic failover. The multi-AZ feature is a lifesaver because it creates a standby replica in another availability zone. If the primary fails, it fails over automatically. I recommend starting with a small db.t2.micro instance in the free tier. The best part is that you can scale storage and compute without downtime. Just remember to enable automated backups.
