Learning to Code: Where to Start
Learning to code can feel like trying to climb a mountain in the fog. The key is to pick one language and a small project that excites you. Python is often recommended for beginners because its syntax is clear and reads a bit like English. Instead of getting lost in theoretical courses, I started by trying to automate a boring task on my computer. There are countless free resources online, but the best way to learn is by doing. You’ll spend a lot of time being frustrated, and that’s normal. Learning to debug – finding and fixing your own errors – is a skill in itself. Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. Celebrate the small wins, like getting your first line of code to run. That feeling never gets old.
