Jawan Movie Review
Atlee's Jawan is a perfect example of a director understanding the star power of Shah Rukh Khan and using it to deliver both entertainment and a message. The film is an action extravaganza where SRK pulls double duty—as a vengeful father and as his son, a vigilante fighting for farmers, women's safety, and healthcare. The narrative is structured like a heist thriller, with each chapter tackling a different social issue. The action sequences are top-tier—the train sequence, the hospital scene, and the climax are choreographed with international standards. Nayanthara makes her Bollywood debut as a tough-as-nails police officer, and her chemistry with SRK is electric. Vijay Sethupathi as the villain brings a chilling, eccentric presence. The film's music by Anirudh Ravichander is infectious, with "Chaleya" and "Zinda Banda" becoming anthems. Atlee packs so much into the runtime that the film occasionally feels overwhelming, but the emotional core keeps it grounded. The cameos—including a surprise appearance by Deepika Padukone—add to the fan service. Jawan is both a celebration of SRK's stardom and a commentary on systemic failures. It's available on Netflix with a subscription. For free access, Netflix occasionally offers free episodes of its originals, but Jawan requires a subscription. However, many mobile plans include Netflix access. You can also purchase a one-month subscription at a low cost and explore the entire catalog while you're there.
