Exploring the Music Scene in Nashville and Austin

If you love live music, Nashville and Austin are the twin Meccas of America. But they are different beasts. Nashville is all about country and songwriting. You can go to a dive bar on Broadway and hear a future superstar playing for tips. Austin is the “Live Music Capital of the World” with a mix of blues, rock, and indie. My advice for beginners is to go beyond the main strip. In Nashville, check out East Nashville. In Austin, go to the Red River Cultural District. Also, tip the musicians. They work for tips, not just the venue. A dollar in the jar goes a long way.
