ChatGPT Memory Feature: Helpful or Creepy?
ChatGPT's memory feature remembers details you share across conversations. It is convenient when it remembers your preferences without repeating them. But it also raises questions about privacy and control. I use it intentionally, telling ChatGPT to remember specific details like my coding preferences or project context. I also regularly review what it remembers and delete anything I do not want stored. When used deliberately, it creates a more personalized experience. If you are uncomfortable with persistent memory, you can turn it off entirely. Like many AI features, the value depends on how you choose to use it.
